I think Thirsk is the real Darrowby of James Herriot’s vet stories. It has the liveliness, the crowded market full of people and cattle, the Skeldale House (its door in picture) and the church in the end of Kirkgate. In Upstairs, Downstairs -deli you can have a taste of local food: pies, cheeses, pickles - everything you really need.
